Morton (6-6) earned the win against Miami on Thursday, allowing an unearned run on five hits and two walks while striking out six batters over six innings.
Morton was mauled for seven runs (five earned) over 2.2 frames in his previous start, but he bounced back nicely against the lowly Marlins, picking up both a win and a quality start. The only run the veteran right-hander allowed was unearned, though the error that led to the tally was a result of his own errant throw. While Morton's strikeout numbers are down this season, he's been able to hold his own against big-league hitters at age 40, posting respectable 3.94 ERA and 1.25 WHIP over 112 innings.
