Braves' Austin Riley: Set to miss 6-to-8 weeks

Atlanta announced Monday that Riley was diagnosed with a fractured right hand following an MRI and is expected to miss 6-to-8 weeks.

Initial testing on Riley's hand after he was hit by a pitch Sunday was inconclusive, but Monday's MRI revealed the third baseman is dealing with a fracture. The 6-to-8-week timeline all but guarantees Riley won't return before October, with Atlanta's final regular-season contest being exactly six weeks away from this past Sunday. Atlanta currently holds the NL's third and final wild-card spot, so there's a chance Riley could be back for postseason play. In the meantime, Luke Williams will likely step in as Atlanta's primary option at the hot corner.
