Springer is expected to be placed on paternity leave this weekend, Gregor Chisholm of the Toronto Star reports.
The veteran slugger would be required to miss up to three days while on the paternity list. Springer is still struggling to produce consistent offense this season, and over 20 games in June he's slashing just .224/.341/.382 with three homers, seven RBI and 11 runs. While he's away from the team, the Blue Jays are expected to promote prospect Sean Keys.
