Varsho is not in Friday's lineup against the Cardinals.
Even with righty Erick Fedde on the mound for St. Louis, Varsho will open the game on the bench. Varsho is hitting .170 with a .235 on-base percentage and three home runs over his last 51 plate appearances. Nathan Lukes is starting in left field while Joey Loperfido patrols center.
