Athletics starter Jesse Chavez was not at the top of his game Wednesday, but the offense picked him up in a 7-4 win over the Yankees.
Chavez allowed four runs in six innings of work, though was better than that number might indicate. He was nearly flawless outside of a our-run third inning, during which he allowed a three-run home run to Jacoby Ellsbury, the last run he would allow.
Chavez ended up allowing his four runs on seven hits in six innings, while he walked two batters. He also struck out five on 107 pitches and earned the win, as the offense rallied to score seven runs from the fourth inning on.
Chavez ended a two-start losing streak, and is now 5-3 with a 3.04 ERA for the season. His next start is set for Monday against the Angels.
