Montas agreed to a one-year, $5.025 million contract with the Athletics on Tuesday to avoid arbitration, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Montas made only $1.8 million in his first year of arbitration eligibility last season, so he'll receive a raise for 2022 after posting a 3.37 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 207:57 K:BB over 187 innings. The right-hander has been a popular name in trade discussions given the A's selloff of key players, but for now he'll remain in Oakland.
