Alvarez (hand) remains on the bench for Saturday's game against the Angels, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Alvarez hasn't started since last Saturday due to hand soreness. He was listed in Friday's lineup but wound up getting scratched, and he's evidently still not ready a day later. J.J. Matijevic will be the designated hitter in his absence.
