Alvarez signed a six-year, $115 million contract extension with the Astros on Friday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Alvarez's contract is the largest ever for a designated hitter, and it'll keep him with the Astros through the 2028 season. The 24-year-old has remained effective early in 2022, slashing .272/.367/.574 with 14 home runs, 31 RBI and 30 runs.
