Barrosa cleared waivers Tuesday and was sent outright to Triple-A Sugar Land.
Barrosa was DFA'd by Houston on Saturday but will officially remain with the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 25-year-old has appeared in 101 big-league games between Arizona and Houston this season but has slashed just .199/.287/.340.
