Syndergaard (1-0) earned the win Saturday against the Astros after tossing 5.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and two walks while fanning one. He also hit a batter.

The former Mets hurler was far from dominant on the mound and ended just two outs shy of recording a quality start, but he got the job done and was able to earn the win against one of the (on paper) strongest lineups in the American League. Synderggard posted a 1.04 ERA, 0.58 WHIP and 11:2 K:BB over 8.2 spring innings, and he will try to build off this nice debut performance when he takes on the Rangers next week.
