Criswell (0-1) allowed three runs on six hits over 1.1 innings and took a loss against the Padres on Friday.
Criswell coughed up a leadoff double to Fernando Tatis in his first big-league inning but forced three straight groundouts to escape the inning unscathed. However, he gave up five straight hits in the second inning, including a two-run triple by Jurickson Profar, before he was removed. The 25-year-old righty posted a 3.77 ERA in 90.2 innings with Triple-A Salt Lake and Double-A Rocket City this season.
