Goins' contract was purchased by the White Sox on Monday.
The 32-year-old has carved out a career as a utility man over parts of seven big-league seasons, but with a career .230/.279/.335 slash line, he's unlikely to be anything more than that this year. He'll replaced Cheslor Cuthbert on the active roster, who was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
