Pruitt was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.
The right-hander returns to the minors after two major-league appearances in August in which he recorded an ERA of 1.50 with five strikeouts over six innings pitched. Left-hander Jose Alvarado was activated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.
