Manager Joe Maddon said Strop (neck) is "very close" to pitching in games, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Strop landed on the injured list at the end of July with neck tightness, but the fact that he's nearing a return to game action suggests his stay on the shelf won't be a lengthy one.
