Titans' Kalel Mullings: Dealing with ankle issue
Mullings suffered an ankle injury during Friday's 23-13 preseason win over the Vikings, Paul Kuharsky of PaulKuharsky.comreports.
Mullings got some reps with Cameron Ward, leading the backfield during Tennessee's second offensive possession. He picked up 27 yards on six carries prior to his injury, though he did also cede a goal-line carry to Julius Chestnut. An initial diagnosis suggests that Mullings' ankle injury is minor, but his status will be worth monitoring as a Week 1 matchup against the Broncos nears.

Titans' Kalel Mullings: Heavy workload against Atlanta
Mullings recorded eight carries for 25 yards in Friday's 23-20 preseason win over the Falcons.
Both Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears (ankle) sat, so Mullings looked to be splitting the primary role with Julius Chestnut. Chestnut got the opening carry of the game, but Mullings followed immediately after on the same drive. However, he was called for a holding penalty one play later and then didn't receive a carry for two additional possessions. Mullings' usage suggests he currently sits fourth on the running back depth chart.

Titans' Kalel Mullings: Still competing for depth spot
Mullings rushed the ball seven times for 33 yards in Saturday's 29-7 preseason loss to the Buccaneers.
Mullings entered the game after Julius Chestnut in the third quarter, but he did earn one carry on Chestnut's opening drive. That suggests he remains fourth on the depth chart for the time being, but that he could be pushing Chestnut. The battle is likely to continue for the rest of the preseason and could take on added significance if Tyjae Spears (ankle) remains sidelined into the regular season.

Titans' Kalel Mullings: Pushing for roster spot as rookie
Mullings will compete with Julius Chestnut for a roster spot during training camp, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Mullings missed time with an injury to his abdomen immediately after being drafted in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, but he participated in minicamp and will be a full go for training camp. He is regarded as a good downhill runner, but his primary role, if he makes the team, will come on special teams to begin his rookie campaign.

Titans' Kalel Mullings: Recovered from core surgery
Mullings (abdomen) has been participating in OTAs.
Mullings was limited at rookie minicamp earlier in May while recovering from core muscle surgery, but the rookie sixth-round pick appears to have shed those limitations at OTAs. He'll be competing in camp against Julius Chestnut and Tyrion Davis-Price for a depth role in a Titans backfield led by Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears.

Titans' Kalel Mullings: Limited at rookie minicamp
Titans head coach Brian Callahan said Saturday that Mullings (abdomen) is recovering from core muscle surgery and will be limited at rookie minicamp, John Glennon of NashvillePost.com reports.
Tennessee selected Mullings in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft with knowledge of his offseason procedure, so his current capped participation level at rookie minicamp is simply the result of following his recovery timetable. Once fully healthy, Mullings will work to earn a depth role behind Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears (concussion). Callahan said the Titans are "just being careful with [Mullings] at this point," per Zach Dimmitt of SI.com.

Titans' Kalel Mullings: Lands in Music City
The Titans selected Mullings in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 188th overall.
Mullings played linebacker for most of his first three seasons at Michigan before focusing on running back for the final two years. In his fifth season, Mullings served as the lead back in a tandem with Donovan Edwards, generating 948 yards and 12 touchdowns on 185 carries (5.1 YPC). He failed to demonstrate pass-catching chops, however, so his path to playing time in Tennessee is hazy behind Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears.
