0:41Pitt HC Pat Narduzzi thinks the Panthers' run game can be successful
Draft Scouting Report
Desmond Reid is an electric, undersized playmaker who consistently defies his stature with balance and short-area quickness. A former All-American, he is a threat in both the run and pass game, capable of turning short gains into explosive plays. Despite recurring injury concerns, his toughness and ability to win in space as a runner and returner make him one of the more dynamic athletes in the class.
- 2025: First-team All-ACC
- 2025: Led team with 966 rushing yards (5.3 avg, 5 TD); tied for team lead with 52 receptions (579 yards, 4 TD)
- Dynamic quick-twitch ability and acceleration to outrun defenders in space.
- Exceptional contact balance to run through arm tackles.
- Versatile threat as a receiver and punt return specialist.
- Undersized frame raises durability and workload concerns.
- Recurring lower-body and ankle injuries throughout 2025.
- Limited effectiveness in pass protection due to size.

Desmond Reid: Waived off IR by Buffalo
The Bills waived Reid (undisclosed) off injured reserve Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Reid was waived/injured due to an undisclosed issue June 11. He then reverted to IR and was thus in line to miss the 2026 season, but Bills now have decided to move on. Consequently, Reid will be free to sign with another club and suit up during the coming campaign if he's able to return to health.

Desmond Reid: Waived by Buffalo
Reid (undisclosed) was waived/injured by the Bills on Thursday.
If the running back goes unclaimed by other teams, he will revert to Buffalo's injured-reserve list, at which point he'd have to reach an injury settlement with the team to have a chance to play in 2026. Reid signed with the Bills as an undrafted free agent in May. In seven games with Pitt in 2025, he recorded 60 carries for 278 yards and two touchdowns as well as 23 catches for 317 yards and two scores.

Bills' Desmond Reid: Joining Buffalo
The Bills signed Reid as an undrafted free agent Friday, Alec White and Maddy Glab of the team's official site report.
Reid played his first two collegiate seasons at Western Carolina before ending his career with two seasons at the University of Pittsburgh. The running back carried the ball 60 times for 278 yards and two touchdowns, adding 23 catches for 317 yards and two more scores over seven games in 2025. Reid's smaller frame makes him more injury-prone, but he is an explosive athlete who can line up anywhere and make plays in space. If the Bills are looking for someone to take over for Khalil Shakir at punt returner, Reid may have a path to a regular-season roster spot.
