Gross-Matos (hamstring) will not play in Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

49ers' Yetur Gross-Matos: Set to miss 'some time'
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday that Gross-Matos will miss some time with a strained hamstring, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Gross-Matos was added to the 49ers' injury carousel Thursday against the Rams, and it looks like it may be the type of issue that could cause him to miss multiple games. If there's any consolation, it's that San Francisco gets a post-Thursday game mini-bye before having to travel across the country to Tampa Bay in Week 6.

49ers' Yetur Gross-Matos: Ruled out Thursday
Gross-Matos has a hamstring injury and has been ruled out for the rest of Thursday's game against the Rams, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

49ers' Yetur Gross-Matos: Taken off injury report
Gross-Matos does not have an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Gross-Matos has practiced sparingly all season but has been able to suit up for each of the 49ers' first two games. It appears he'll follow that same pattern ahead of Week 3, and Gross-Matos will likely play primarily on passing downs in a pass-rushing role.

49ers' Yetur Gross-Matos: Returns to practice Thursday
Gross-Matos (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
Gross-Matos missed Wednesday's practice due to a lingering knee issue that limited him to just 16 defensive snaps during the 49ers' Week 1 win over the Seahawks. His ability to return to practice Thursday is a positive sign, and he is trending towards being available against the Saints on Sunday.

49ers' Yetur Gross-Matos: Cleared for Week 1
Gross-Matos (knee) does not have an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.
Gross-Matos did not practice Wednesday or Friday, but he got in a limited session Thursday. That's enough for him to suit up, and he should have a rotational role along the San Francisco defensive line.

49ers' Yetur Gross-Matos: Limited in return to practice
Gross-Matos (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
It's a step in the right direction for the 2020 second-rounder, who was unable to practice Wednesday due to a lingering knee injury. His practice participation Friday will indicate his chances of playing in Sunday's regular-season opener against the Seahawks. Robert Beal, Bryce Huff and Sam Okuayinonu would be candidates to see an increased snap count at defensive end behind starters Nick Bosa and Mykel Williams if Gross-Matos is not cleared to play.

49ers' Yetur Gross-Matos: Working through knee issue
Gross-Matos (knee) did not participate in Wednesday's practice, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Gross-Matos opened training camp on the active/PUP list due to what was reported at the time as an undisclosed issue. He's no longer on the PUP list, but Wednesday's practice report revealed that the 2020 second-rounder has been working through a knee injury. Gross-Matos would need to return to practice in at least a limited capacity over the next two days to have a chance at playing in Sunday's regular-season opener against Seattle.

49ers' Yetur Gross-Matos: Activated from PUP list
Gross-Matos (undisclosed) was activated from the active/PUP list Tuesday.
It's unclear what Gross-Matos was dealing with while missing the entire training camp, but he should be back in the mix for the Week 1 matchup versus the Seahawks. Last season, the 2020 second-round pick posted 19 tackles and 4.0 sacks. Rookie first-round pick Mykel Williams (knee) is his primary competition for reps on the edge.

49ers' Yetur Gross-Matos: Sidelined to begin training camp
Gross-Matos (undisclosed) was placed on the active/PUP list Friday.
Gross-Matos was sidelined for long stretches of the 2024 season with a knee issue, though he did close the campaign healthy. He'll look to get back on the field early in camp, as he should be in line for a significant role as a pass rusher in 2025.
