Texans' Jalen Pitre: Picks off Rush twice in Week 5 win
Pitre logged four tackles (three solo) and two interceptions during the Texans' 44-10 win over the Ravens on Sunday.
Both of Pitre's interceptions off Cooper Rush came in the second half of Sunday's blowout win and resulted in 10 points for the Texans. Pitre is now up to three picks through the first five games of the regular season, which is tied with Kevin Byard and Kerby Joseph for second most in the NFL behind Devin Lloyd (four).

Texans' Jalen Pitre: Records big pick
Pitre had three tackles and three defensed passes, including one interception, in Sunday's 17-10 loss to Jacksonville.
Pitre followed the eyes of Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and stepped in front of the receiver for a potential momentum-shifting interception in the fourth quarter. To that point, Houston's offense sputtered, but one play later, C.J. Stroud found Nico Collins for a 50-yard touchdown strike to knot the game at 10-10. Unfortunately for Houston, Collins lost a fumble later in the quarter as the team was driving for the go-ahead score. Pitre has 14 tackles and three passes defensed, including one interception, through the first three games.

Texans' Jalen Pitre: Returns to Monday's game
Pitre (ribs) has returned to Monday's game against the Buccaneers, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.
Pitre went to the locker room in the first half to be evaluated for a rib injury, but he has been cleared to return for the start of the third quarter. Jaylin Smith will revert to a rotational role at corner due to Pitre's return.

Pitre is questionable to return to Monday's game against the Buccaneers due to a rib injury.
Pitre suffered the injury in the first quarter, and he went to the locker room after initially being checked on by trainers in the blue medical tent. Jaylin Smith has come in at slot corner and will see increased snaps on defense for as long as Pitre is out of the game.

Texans' Jalen Pitre: Records five tackles in loss
Pitre recorded five tackles (four solo) in Houston's loss to Los Angeles on Sunday.
Pitre started at safety and played 92 percent of the defensive snaps against the Rams. His five tackles were fourth-most on the team. Pitre signed a three-year, $39 million extension through 2028 back in April.

Texans' Jalen Pitre: Gets extension from Houston
Pitre (pectoral) has agreed to terms on a three-year extension with the Texans, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Pitre's deal -- which is reportedly worth roughly $39 million -- includes $29.2 million in guarantees, which would make him the NFL's highest-paid nickel back. In 12 games during the 2024 regular season, the 25-year-old recorded 65 tackles and an interception prior to sustaining a season-ending pectoral injury. Per Aaron Wilson, KPRC 2 Houston, Pitre is on track to participate in OTAs, which puts the 2022 second-rounder in line to reclaim his key role in a Houston secondary that also features Derek Stingley, who the team signed to a lucrative three-year extension last month.

Texans' Jalen Pitre: On track for OTAs
Pitre said Sunday that he underwent successful surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle and that he is progressing well enough in his recovery to be on track to participate in OTAs, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Pitre served as the Texans' nickel cornerback before tearing his pectoral muscle in Week 12 against the Titans, and he finished the 2024 regular season with 65 tackles (44 solo), eight pass defenses (including one interception) and one forced fumble across 12 games. Jimmie Ward replaced Pitre at nickel, but the former was replaced by Myles Bryant after suffering a season-ending foot injury. Pitre is eligible for a contract extension, and the 2022 second-round pick relayed that he hopes to sign a long-term deal with Houston during the offseason.

Pitre suffered a partial pectoral rupture Week 12 against Tennessee and was already set to miss multiple games. However, with the news that he'll need surgery, the talented young defensive back will not be able to return to action until 2025. Pitre finishes the 2024 campaign with 65 tackles (44 solo), eight pass breakups and one interception over 12 contests.
