Jets' Khalil Herbert: Healthy inactive for London game
Herbert (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Broncos in London.
After signing with the Jets last week, Herbert dressed as the Jets' No. 3 running back for this past Sunday's 37-22 loss to the Cowboys. He didn't see any playing time on offense in the loss but contributed on special teams, where he brought back one kickoff for 22 yards. With Kene Nwangwu (hamstring) set to play Sunday for the first time since Week 1, the Jets won't have a need for Herbert as depth at running back or as a kickoff returner.

Jets' Khalil Herbert: Signed by Jets
The Jets signed Herbert on Thursday.
In a corresponding move, the team placed fellow running back Braelon Allen (knee) on injured reserve. With the Jets, Herbert will provide depth to a backfield that's led by Breece Hall and also includes Isaiah Davis and Kene Nwangwu (hamstring). While Herbert doesn't have an immediate path to fantasy lineup utility, that's a context that could change if Hall were to miss time at any point down the road.

Khalil Herbert: Let go by Seattle
Herbert was cut from Seattle's practice squad Wednesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
Herbert was with Seattle's practice squad for a week, but he was let go when the team signed Myles Gaskin. Herbert appeared in 14 games with the Bengals and Bears in 2024, and he should land another opportunity elsewhere around the league.

Khalil Herbert: Signs with Seattle's practice squad
The Seahawks signed Herbert to the practice squad Tuesday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Herbert's addition to the practice squad gives the Seahawks additional depth at running back, which could come in handy if Zach Charbonnet (foot) is unable to play in Thursday's game against the Cardinals. Herbert split his time last season between the Bears and Bengals, and finished with 36 carries for 130 yards and a touchdown, and 10 catches (on 11 targets) for 25 yards across 14 regular-season games.

Khalil Herbert: Expected to join Seattle's PS
Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports that the Seahawks are expected to sign Herbert to the practice squad.
The Seahawks are operating on a short week in facing the Cardinals on Thursday. With Zach Charbonnet (foot) in danger of missing a second consecutive game, the addition of Herbert would give Seattle added backfield depth behind Kenneth Walker if Charbonnet is inactive. Herbert logged 36 carries for 130 yards and a touchdown and 10 catches (on 11 targets) for 25 yards across 14 regular-season games in 2024 between the Bengals (eight) and Bears (six).

Khalil Herbert: Cut from Indy's practice squad
The Colts cut Herbert from the practice squad Monday.
The move makes room on the Colts' practice squad for running back Ameer Abdullah. Herbert joined Indianapolis' scout team in late August after failing to make the 53-man active roster, but the 2021 sixth-rounder will now look to join a team in need of backfield depth. Herbert played in 14 regular-season games in 2024 between the Bengals (eight) and Bears (six) and totalled 36 carries for 130 yards and one touchdown while adding 10 catches (on 11 targets) for 25 yards.

Khalil Herbert: Lands on practice squad
Herbert signed to the Colts' practice squad Wednesday.
The running back was released Tuesday after falling short of the team's 53-man roster, and while he may have been expected to end up with another team given his experience in the league, Herbert cleared waivers and remained with Indy. The former Bengal and Bear initially signed with the Colts in March after appearing in 14 regular-season games for the aforementioned teams in 2024, but he failed to make the roster after missing the last two preseason games with an undisclosed injury. Healthy now, Herbert is perhaps a candidate for a call-up if the Colts need running back help behind Jonathan Taylor during the regular season.

Khalil Herbert: Fails to make Colts' 53-man roster
The Colts released Herbert on Tuesday, Amanda Foster of the team's official site reports.
Herbert signed with the Colts in March after playing 14 regular-season games between the Bengals (eight) and Bears (six) in 2024. The 2021 sixth-rounder logged seven carries for 29 yards and a touchdown in the Colts' preseason opener against the Ravens, but he suffered an undisclosed injury during that game that forced him to miss Indianapolis' final two exhibition contests. The fact that Herbert wasn't waived with an injury designation indicates he's healthy, so he should garner plenty of interest from a team looking to solidify its backfield depth.

Colts' Khalil Herbert: Doesn't play vs. Green Bay
Herbert (undisclosed) did not play in the Colts' 23-19 preseason loss to the Packers on Saturday.
Herbert has been sidelined for the past week due to an undisclosed injury, which prevented him from suiting up in Saturday's exhibition contest. The severity and nature of the injury are not clear, but Herbert's practice participation this upcoming week will be an indication of his chances of playing in the Colts' preseason finale against the Bengals on Saturday, Aug. 23. He's battling against DJ Giddens and Tyler Goodson for backup duties behind Jonathan Taylor in the backfield.

Colts' Khalil Herbert: Remains sidelined Thursday
Herbert (undisclosed) isn't practicing Thursday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Herbert hasn't practiced since playing in last Thursday's preseason opener against the Ravens, in which he rushed seven times for 29 yards and a touchdown. He's competing with Tyler Goodson and DJ Giddens for a depth role behind Jonathan Taylor in Indianapolis' backfield.

Colts' Khalil Herbert: Dealing with injury
Coach Shane Steichen said Sunday that Herbert is dealing with an undisclosed injury, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. He was seen with a wrap on his leg, the Indianapolis Star reports.
Herbert rushed seven times for 29 yards and one touchdown in the Colts' preseason opener against the Ravens on Thursday, and it's unclear when he was injured or the severity of the injury. Looking like the Colts' RB4 behind Jonathan Taylor, Tyler Goodson and rookie DJ Giddens, Herbert can't afford to miss much time in his quest for a spot on the 53-man roster.
