Texans' Quintez Cephus: Signs with Texans
Cephus signed a deal with the Texans on Wednesday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Cephus spent all of last season on the Rams' practice squad but previously appeared in 22 games with the Lions, accounting for 37 receptions, 568 yards and four touchdowns in three seasons. The 27-year-old hasn't played in a game since 2022, but could be a depth piece for the Texans should he make the 53-man roster in a packed wide receiver room.

Quintez Cephus: Let go by Niners
The 49ers waived Cephus on Monday.
Cephus signed with the 49ers on Thursday to give the team wide receiver depth in the wake of Jacob Cowing's hamstring injury. However, the Niners needed to make space on the training camp roster after signing corner Eli Apple, which led to Cephus being cut. Cephus will likely clear waivers, at which time he'll look to join a team in need of a depth receiver.

49ers' Quintez Cephus: Headed to Bay Area
The 49ers signed Cephus to a one-year contract Thursday, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
With Jacob Cowing sidelined due to a hamstring injury, the 49ers bolstered their wide receiver corps by adding Cephus and waiving running back Israel Abanikanda. Cephus spent most of the 2024 season on the Rams' practice squad, but he was let go in late June despite signing a reserve/future contract in January. Cephus hasn't played in a regular-season game since 2022 as a member of the Lions, and he faces an uphill battle to make the 49ers' practice squad -- let alone the 53-man roster -- at the end of training camp.

Quintez Cephus: Let go by Rams
Los Angeles waived Cephus on Wednesday.
Cephus spent last season on the Rams' practice squad, but he wasn't elevated to the active roster at any point. The fifth-year pro inked a reserve/future deal with the team in January, but he's now lost his grip on a spot on the 90-man roster and will have to search for an opportunity to compete elsewhere. Cephus last suited up for regular-season action in 2022, when he secured two of three targets for 15 yards across four appearances with Detroit.

Rams' Quintez Cephus: Inks futures deal with Rams
The Rams signed Cephus to a reserve/future contract Monday, Stu Jackson of the team's official site reports.
Cephus signed with the Rams' practice squad Sept. 18 after he failed to make the Texans' 53-man roster at the end of training camp. The 2020 fifth-round pick was not elevated to the Rams' active roster during the regular season or playoffs, but by signing a futures deal he'll have a spot on the 90-man roster when the new league year starts March 12. Cephus will have the opportunity to participate in OTAs and minicamp during the offseason and put himself in a position to earn a spot on the active roster for the 2025 campaign following training camp.

Quintez Cephus: Joins Rams' practice squad
The Rams signed Cephus to their practice squad Wednesday.
Cephus failed to make the Texans' initial 53-man roster in late August, but he's found a new opportunity in Los Angeles. The veteran wideout's most recent in-game action came with the Lions in 2022, when he caught two passes for 15 yards across four contests. Cephus has a chance to be elevated to the Rams' active roster at some point, with Cooper Kupp (ankle) and Puka Nacua (knee) both expected to miss significant time.

Quintez Cephus: Cut by Texans
The Texans waived Cephus on Tuesday.
After being waived by the Bills in May, Cephus caught on with the Texans in mid-July before the start of training camp. He had been competing for a depth spot at wide receiver, and across four preseason games, he registered six catches on 10 targets for 40 yards. The 2020 fifth-round pick should garner some interest from teams in need of a wide receiver either on the active roster or practice squad.

Texans' Quintez Cephus: Lands in Houston
Cephus agreed to terms Tuesday on a contract with the Texans, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Cephus spent time in Buffalo earlier this offseason, but he was cut by the Bills prior to the 2024 NFL Draft. The 2020 fifth-round pick briefly flashed during his time in Detroit, but he was then suspended the entire 2023 season for violating the league's gambling policy. Now, Cephus will compete for a depth role in Houston's crowded WR room, with all of Robert Woods, Noah Brown, John Metchie, Ben Skowronek and Xavier Hutchinson vying for end-of-roster gigs. At best, Cephus will likely be competing for a spot on the practice squad.

Quintez Cephus: Time up in Buffalo
The Bills waived Cephus on Thursday.
Cephus landed with Buffalo back in April after having missed the entire 2023 season for violating the league's gambling policy. Now, the 2020 fifth-round pick will have to search for a chance to reignite his career with another club. He suited up for 22 regular-season games with the Lions from 2020-22.

Bills' Quintez Cephus: Signs with Buffalo
Cephus reached an agreement with the Bills on Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Cephus is attempting to revive his NFL career after he was suspended all of last season for violating the league's gambling policy. The 26-year-old wide receiver played in 13 games with Detroit during his 2020 rookie campaign, totaling 20 receptions for 349 yards and two touchdowns, but he participated in just nine contests in the subsequent two years, compiling 17 catches for 219 yards and two scores. Cephus will have a chance to compete for a roster spot among a Buffalo wide-receiver corps that will look much different from last season with the offseason departures of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis.

Quintez Cephus: Reinstated from suspension
The NFL reinstated Cephus from suspension Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
The 2020 fifth-round pick was one of five players reinstated Thursday, out of the seven suspended indefinitely last offseason for violations of the league's gambling policy. The Lions released Cephus shortly thereafter but may now have some interest in bringing him back to compete for a depth role. He showed some promise his first two seasons while totaling 553 receiving yards and four TDs in 18 games (five starts), with a foot injury then limiting him to four appearances and 15 yards in 2022. He recently turned 26 years old and should get a tryout somewhere even if Detroit isn't interested in a reunion.
