Washington waived Smith (undisclosed) from injured reserve Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
After missing the first six games of the season, Smith is now healthy but will become a free agent. The tight end's last regular-season action came back in 2021, when he suited up in nine games for the Giants.

Commanders' Kaden Smith: Lands on injured reserve

Smith joined the Commanders on Aug. 13 and it's not quite clear when he suffered the injury. However, the Stanford product may now miss the entirety of the 2023 campaign unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team.

The Giants waived Smith (knee) on Friday with a failed physical designation, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.
Smith played in just nine games during 2021 before landing on injured reserve with a knee injury for the rest of the campaign. As a rookie in 2019, he caught 31 passes for 268 yards and three touchdowns across nine games, but he's registered just 21 receptions for 135 yards and zero touchdowns over the past two seasons. In a corresponding move, the Giants re-signed David Sills, who was an impending exclusive rights free agent.
