Mike Edwards: Released by Kansas City
The Chiefs released Edwards (hamstring) on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Edwards signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs earlier in the offseason after he appeared in eight combined regular-season games with the Bills and Bucs last year. The 29-year-old safety will look to find a reserve role elsewhere.

Chiefs' Mike Edwards: Ruled out with hamstring injury
Edwards won't return to Friday's preseason game against the Seahawks due to a hamstring issue.
Edwards was ruled out midway through the second half. The veteran safety recorded three tackles (two solo) prior to his exit. Edwards signed with the Chiefs in early April and is expected to take on a depth role in the secondary during the upcoming campaign.

Chiefs' Mike Edwards: Returning to K.C.
Edwards is slated to sign a one-year deal with the Chiefs, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
After playing five games with Tampa Bay and three with Buffalo during the 2024 regular season, a span in which he recorded 12 tackles, Edwards returns to Kansas City, where spent the 2023 campaign and logged 51 tackles over the course of 17 regular-season outings. In his return to the Chiefs, Edwards -- a 2019 third-rounder -- will add depth and experience to a safety corps that will be minus Justin Reid, who signed with the Saints last month.

Buccaneers' Mike Edwards: Sparse role in Bucs return
Edwards finished the 2024 regular season with 11 tackles (six solo) and one defensed pass across five games.
Edwards returned to the team that invested a 2019 third-round pick in him after opening the season with the Bills and then joining the Titans for a week following his release by Buffalo. Edwards then suffered a hamstring injury two games into his Buccaneers tenure, leading to a pair of absences before a Week 16 return. Edwards' best showing actually came during the wild-card loss to the Commanders, when he recorded five tackles across 57 snaps. Edwards will once again be an unrestricted free agent when the new league year begins, and it remains to be seen if Tampa Bay will be interested in a reunion.

Buccaneers' Mike Edwards: Ready to go for wild-card round
Edwards (quadriceps) is active for Sunday night's NFC wild-card game against the Commanders.
Edwards was nursing a quad injury at practice this week, but he'll ultimately be able to give it a go in the first round of the postseason. The safety recorded six total tackles (four solo) over the final three games of the regular season.

Buccaneers' Mike Edwards: Questionable to face Washington
Edward (quadriceps) practiced in full Friday and is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's NFC home wild-card round game against the Commanders.
Edwards strung together an LP/LP/FP series of practices this week, which seemingly gives him solid odds of being cleared to suit up for Sunday's home playoff game against Washington. He's dealing with a quadriceps injury, which was initially diagnosed as cramps, that forced him out of the Buccaneers' regular-season finale against New Orleans early.

Buccaneers' Mike Edwards: Begins week limited
Edwards (quadriceps) was listed as limited on Wednesday's injury report.
Edwards exited Week 18's win over the Saints early with what was originally reported as muscle cramps, but he appears to still be dealing with the effects of a quadriceps injury. More clarity on his status for Sunday's wild-card game against the Commanders should come as the week progresses.

Buccaneers' Mike Edwards: Exits early Sunday
Edwards left Sunday's 27-19 win over the Saints early with muscle cramps, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Edwards was forced to exit Sunday's victory in the fourth quarter, but he appears to have avoided any sort of injury. Edwards finished his day with two solo tackles. With Tampa Bay geared up to host a wild-card game next weekend, the safety doesn't appear to be in any danger of missing that contest.

Buccaneers' Mike Edwards: Good to go against Dallas
Edwards (hamstring) is active for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.
Edwards has missed the Buccaneers' last two games due to a hamstring injury he suffered in Week 13 against the Panthers. We logged an LP/LP/FP practice week, and he's done enough to be cleared for Sunday night's game. Edwards will reclaim his starting spot at strong safety alongside free safety Kaevon Merriweather.

Buccaneers' Mike Edwards: Questionable for Week 16
Edwards (hamstring) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Cowboys, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Edwards appears to be trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday's contest, as he upgraded from limited practice sessions Wednesday and Thursday to a full-go Friday. However, if the veteran safety is unable to suit up in Week 16, expect Christian Izien to step in and start alongside Kaevon Merriweather.
