Lorenzo Carter: Hangs up cleats
Carter informed the Titans of his decision to retire from the NFL on Tuesday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official website reports.
After spending the previous three seasons with the Falcons, Carter signed with the Titans earlier this offseason. He's instead opting to hang up his cleats after seven seasons in the NFL. Carter wraps up his career having appeared in 96 regular-season games (62 starts) and finishing with 278 tackles (170 solo), including 21.5 sacks, 18 pass breakups, including a pair of interceptions, five forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.

Titans' Lorenzo Carter: Signs with Tennessee
Carter signed with the Titans on Thursday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.
The outside linebacker played in 13 games, started 11 and missed four with a concussion with the Falcons in 2024, recording 32 tackles (23 solo) and a forced fumble. A third-round pick of the Giants in 2018, Carter played out his four-year rookie deal with New York before spending the last three seasons with Atlanta, starting 62 of the 96 games he appeared in and recording 21.5 sacks. The 29-year-old projects as a depth piece for the Titans in 2025, though his past starting experience could give him a chance to compete for a steady role this year, too.

Falcons' Lorenzo Carter: No sacks in shortened season
In 13 games in 2024, Carter recorded 32 tackles (23 solo) and a forced fumble.
Carter was forced to miss four straight games in the middle of the season after suffering a concussion, a big part of why he posted fewer defensive snaps, fewer tackles and fewer sacks than he did in each of his three seasons prior. However, even when he was available, he was stuck behind Matthew Judon and Arnold Ebiketie on the depth chart. Carter is set to become an unrestricted free agent during the offseason.

Falcons' Lorenzo Carter: Questionable vs. Giants
Carter (groin) is questionable for Sunday's outing against the Giants, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Carter has played in all of Atlanta's matchups since the bye week, but it appears he's recently suffered a groin injury. The severity of the injury and whether he'll play versus New York both remain unknown, but there should be more indication prior to kickoff on Sunday.

Falcons' Lorenzo Carter: Activated from injured reserve
The Falcons activated Carter (concussion) from injured reserve Saturday, Daniel Flick of SI.com reports.
Carter was concussed in Week 6 and missed the required four games while on injured reserve. After practicing in full this week, Carter appears to have a good chance of suiting up Sunday against the Broncos. He recorded 15 tackles (11 solo) through the first six games of the season prior to his injury.

Falcons' Lorenzo Carter: Practices in full Thursday
Carter (concussion) was a full participant during Thursday's practice, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
Carter remains on injured reserve and in the league's concussion protocols, but he could be close to returning from both after practicing without restrictions Thursday. If he's able to be cleared by an independent neurologist, Carter could be activated off IR and play against the Broncos on Sunday.

Falcons' Lorenzo Carter: Practice window opens Wednesday
The Falcons designated Carter (concussion) to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Will McFadden of the team's official site reports.
A concussion led Carter to be placed on injured reserve ahead of Week 7. His 21-day practice window opened Wednesday, and he was estimated as a limited participant on the Falcons' injury report, per Tori McElhaney of the team's official site. Even if Carter were to practice in full this week, he'll need to clear the league's five-step concussion protocols in order to play against the Broncos on Sunday.
