Thiero (knee) is still not participating in live drills at practice, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports.
Thiero remains limited to individual workouts due to a knee injury. The rookie forward is losing out on valuable reps at training camp, and he can be considered doubtful to make his preseason debut Sunday against the Warriors. Until Thiero is cleared for contact, the door remains open for Jake LaRavia and Dalton Knecht to nail down a reserve role in the Lakers' frontcourt.

Lakers' Adou Thiero: Won't play in preseason opener
Thiero (knee) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Suns, Thuc Nhi Nguyen of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Thiero's rookie debut will have to wait a bit longer, as he continues to work his way back from a knee injury that sidelined him for all of the Las Vegas Summer League. The next opportunity for the Arkansas product to play will be Sunday against the Warriors.

After missing the Las Vegas Summer League, Thiero is still in recovery mode due to a knee injury that he suffered during his junior year at Arkansas. Lakers' Adou Thiero: Inks deal with Lakers
Thiero (knee) signed a three-year, $5.95 million contracts with the Lakers on Sunday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
Thiero was selected 36th overall in the 2025 NBA Draft and will join the Lakers on a three-year deal that includes two years fully guaranteed with a third-year team option. Thiero was a standout performer at Arkansas during the 2024-25 campaign, averaging 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.6 steals in 27.5 minutes per contest across 27 appearances.

Thiero will not be on the Lakers' Summer League squad while recovering from a knee injury, Jovan Buha of The Athletic reports.
Thiero has been dealing with a knee ailment since his time in Arkansas, and although he's in the final stages of his return-to-play process, he has not yet been given the green light to participate in the Summer League. He's expected to be fully cleared for training camp, which is when he'll look to carve out a role for himself in the Lakers' roster. Thiero blossomed into a standout college player at Arkansas and enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2024-25, averaging 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.6 steals in 27.5 minutes across 27 regular-season appearances while shooting 54.5 percent from the field. Standing at 6-foot-8 with a 7-foot wingspan, Thiero possesses ideal size, length and athleticism for a forward in the modern NBA. However, the Lakers are built to win now, so Thiero isn't expected to see a lot of minutes in the early stages of his career.
