0:16NCAAM Highlights: Utah VS. Grand Canyon
Draft Scouting Report
Pro Comparison: Jamir Watkins
Summary
Henley popped around in college from Minnesota to DePaul to UNLV and then to Grand Canyon, but the light finally flipped on toward the end of his junior year at UNLV and he erupted into one of the Mountain West’s best all-around lead guards as a senior.
About
- First Team, All-Mountain West in 2025-26.
- Ranked in the top-10 in the Mountain West in points, rebounds and steals.
- Cracked double figures in 31 of 32 games this past season.
Strengths
- Dynamic, smooth slasher who can generate paint touches out of nothing. Elastic frame and a sneaky-good handle.
- Can see the vision of Henley in a drive-and-kick offense with his ability to bend defenses and create in a pinch. Also a threat to grab and go to kickstart transition.
- Cares defensively and can guard multiple archetypes and cover lots of ground.
Weaknesses
- The decision-making is not quite good enough to be an on-ball player at the NBA. Had a 20% turnover rate in pick-and-rolls last season and tries to fit passes into windows that don’t exist.
- Is Henley a good enough shooter to have off-ball utility? Henley is a career 30% 3-point shooter over a four-year sample size.
- Has not shown much of a feel for off-ball cutting, which is an essential skill for role players to accentuate a star.
