UFC Fight Night results, highlights: Mario Bautista batters Vinicius Oliveira for slick submission

Mario Bautista remained in the conversation of top bantamweights with an impressive submission win of Vinicius Oliveira at Saturday night's UFC Fight Night.

In the early stages of the fight, it was clear Oliveira wanted to get the fight to the floor, pushing for takedowns by pressing Bautista into the Octagon wall. Unfortunately for Oliveira, he was unable to find any success with his takedown attempts.

Even worse, it was Bautista who was able to win the grappling exchanges, scoring a takedown in the first round, before also ending up in top position in the second.

At the end of the opening frame, it seemed as though Oliveira had nearly emptied his gas tank, crawling to his corner and sitting on the canvas until his corner coaxed him onto a stool.

Bautista was able to counter an Oliveira takedown attempt to establish top control in Round 2. From there, Bautista was patient, eventually passing to side control before working for a kimura. While Oliveira was able to posture out of the submission, he left an opening for Bautista to quickly transition to back control.

Once Bautista had the back, he quickly locked in a rear-naked choke. As soon as the choke was in, Oliveira tapped out, awarding Bautista the submission victory.

The loss was the first for Oliveira in five trips to the Octagon.

For Bautista, he adds Oliveira to a resume that includes wins over the likes of former MMA champions Jose Aldo and Patchy Mix. The win also helped Bautista bounce back from a competitive decision loss to Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 321 in October 2025. Bautista is now 10-3 in UFC competition.

Kyoji Horiguchi dominates Amir Albazi for clear decision victory

Albazi had no answer for Horiguchi on the feet, and that's where the entire fight was spent. Albazi's corner wanted him to wrestle, but Horiguchi was not willing to go to the ground and was content to continue dominating the action on the feet. There was never a doubt about who was going to take the fight on the scorecards at the conclusion of three rounds and the judges turned in the cards exactly as expected, giving Horiguchi the decsion by unanimous scores of 30-27, with the exception of one judge, who somehow found a round to Albazi, giving Horiguchi a 29-28 card.

Rizvan Kuniev takes a decision over Jailton Almeida

This was an ugly heavyweight fight. Almeida could never get the fight to the ground, which is always his standard path to victory. Kuniev wasn't able to do much over three rounds, but did land enough offense to clearly deserve the win over the No. 6-ranked UFC heavyweight.

Final scorecards read 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28, all for Kuniev.

Michał Oleksiejczuk edges out Marc-Andre Barriault for unanimous decision win

Oleksiejczuk started the fight with a dominant opening round, tagging Barriault to the head and body. Barriault's chin held up well, however, and he stormed back in the second round, clearly taking the second frame. The third round was extremely tight, with both men having their moments, but the official judges preferred the work of Oleksiejczuk, who was able to eke out a unanimous decision by scores of 29-28 across the board.

Oleksiejczuk has now won three consecutive fights after a three-fight losing skid, keeping momentum going in the middleweight division.

Farid Basharat def. Jean Matsumoto via split decision

Matsumoto had a good final round in a hard-fought, back-and-forth fight, but ultimately came up short on two of three official scorecards. Basharat makes it 2-0 for the family after his brother, Javid, defeated Gianni Vazquez by decision on the preliminary card. Farid improved to 15-0 in his career, including a 6-0 record in the UFC Octagon.

Dustin Jacoby finishes Julius Walker in the second round

Jacoby repeatedly found Walker's chin throughout the fight. In the second round, Walker did not improve his defense and was dropped repeatedly. The fight could have been stopped at least twice before things finally came to a close when Walker was badly rocked for the third time in the round. It's a big win for Jacoby, who is now riding a three-fight winning streak in a fairly wide-open light heavyweight division.
