Yan spoiled what could have been a historic night for Dvalishvili in Las Vegas

UFC certainly went out with a bang on the PPV era on Saturday night. UFC 323 wrapped up the last PPV event of 2025 before the coverage moves over to Paramount+ and two new champions will begin that era.

One of them is a familiar face as Petr Yan took down Merab Dvalishvili and ended one of the longest winning streaks in the sport's history. Yan avenged his previous loss to the champion from 2023 and earned the title for a second time after previously holding it in 2022. Yan outclassed Dvalishvili over the five rounds despite the scorecards looking a bit closer in the end.

Also in the new champion book is Joshua Van, who earned the flyweight title by way of a freak injury. Alexandre Pantoja suffered a nasty arm injury while landing on the mat in Round 1 of his title defense against Van and could no longer continue. The result meant that Van became the second-youngest UFC champion in history at just 24. He may already have a challenger in waiting as well with Tatsuro Taira earning a TKO of former titleholder Brandon Moreno earlier in the night.
