THIS IS IT
What an eventful day of Champions League action! Thanks for following along, we'll be back tomorrow for the second day of European football this week.

The UEFA Champions League returned on Tuesday and it was a day plenty of action as Barcelona kicked off the early matches with a 6-1 win over Olympiacos thanks to the hat trick of Fermin Lopez and an outstanding performance of the team managed by Hansi Flick. Later, Arsenal scored four goals in less than 20 minutes against Atletico Madrid in the second half at the Emirates Stadium, in one of the best matches of the season so far. PSG netted seven goals against Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena, a match that also marked the return of 2025 Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembele following a muscle injury that had kept him out in recent weeks and he made an immediate impact, scoring just two minutes after coming on.
Elsewhere, Inter won 4-0 against Union SG, showcasing their excellent form ahead of their Serie A clash with Napoli on Saturday. Napoli, meanwhile, suffered a heavy 6–2 defeat at PSV, with Ricardo Pepi scoring and assisting in the final minutes. In other matches, Jose Mourinho's Benfica fell 3–0 at Newcastle, while Manchester City secured a comfortable 2–0 away win against Villarreal, making it an easy Spanish trip for Pep Guardiola and his side.

What an eventful day of Champions League action! Thanks for following along, we'll be back tomorrow for the second day of European football this week.
90' What is going on here? PSV scored two more goals with Ricardo Pepi and Couhaib Driouech as PSV are now leading 6-2 against the Serie A champions!
81' Dennis Man scored the fourth goal of the night for PSV, which makes it a disappointing defeat for Antonio Conte's Napoli few minutes after Italian striker Lorenzo Lucca received a red card and was sent off by the referee.
76' It's 4-0 for Inter but this is also an historical goal as it's the first one of Francesco Pio Esposito. The 18-year old, after scoring his first Serie A goal against Cagliari, started against Union SG on Tuesday and delivered another outstanding performance.
71' Arsenal add another through Gyokeres, completely turning the game on its head as the Gunners take a four-goal lead over Atletico Madrid. In less than 15 minutes, the game has changed completely with the home side scoring four goals.
65' Ousmane Dembele is back and scores his first goal of the night in Leverkusen as the Ballon d'Or winner is finally back after suffering a musuclar injury. Luis Enrique brought him off in the 63rd minute, and it took only two minutes for him to score again.
68' It's 3-0 for Arsenal! Gabriel Martinelli adds another, finishing off a quick vertical transition orchestrated by Arteta's side while two minutes later Viktor Gyokeres also scores his first goal of the night. What a game unfolding here at the Emirates!
55' What a busy day for the live blog! Jokes aside, we just witnessed three goals in the same minute: PSV pulled one back against Napoli to make it 3–1, Arsenal's Gabriel opened the scoring against Atlético Madrid, and Garcia netted his second for Bayer Leverkusen, putting the visitors ahead 5–2.
51' PSG immediately scored another one in the opening minutes of the second half against Bayer Leverkusen with Nuno Mendes. It looks like there is no much the home side can do against the French team today...
52' Inter immediately scored the third goal of the match with a penalty well taken by Hakan Calhanoglu and it's now 3-0 for the Nerazzurri that were able to change the direction of the game after a challenging start.
