Player Outlook
The Titans were not a good defense last year, but they have changed almost everything to try to fix that. Robert Saleh is the head coach, Gus Bradley is the defensive coordinator, and more than half of their starters could be different. The defensive line, in particular, should be improved with the additions of Jermaine Johnson, Keldric Faulk, John Franklin-Myers, Solomon Thomas, and Jordan Elliott. We aren't confident enough in their improvement to suggest drafting them, but they do get the Jets in Week 1, so we should find out very early just how much better they got in the offseason.

  • Titans' Oluwafemi Oladejo: Expected to be ready for camp

Oladejo didn't participate in OTAs or minicamp because of a hamstring injury, but he's expected to be ready for the beginning of training camp in late July, Paul Kuharsky of PaulKuharsky.com reports. Oladejo missed most of last season due to a right leg fracture he suffered in October, but that wasn't the cause of his absence from spring workouts; rather, the second-round 2025 draft pick was nursing a hamstring issue. Oladejo is slated for a rotational role during the upcoming campaign, and he's expected to work more frequently as a pass rusher than he did last season, per Kuharsky.

  • Titans' Jeffery Simmons: Snap count could decline in 2026

The Titans plan to reduce Simmons' (elbow) workload in 2026 to keep him fresh for high-leverage situations, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports. Coach Robert Saleh said during minicamp in June that Tennessee wants Simmons rested for crucial third downs and two-minute situations. Fewer snaps could slightly lower Simmons' tackle volume, but Saleh's aggressive scheme should also create more opportunities for disruption. Simmons totaled a career-high 11.0 sacks last season while earning All-Pro honors, and he's fresh off signing a three-year, $105.8 million contract extension. Considering his talent level, a planned rotation shouldn't significantly damage Simmons' IDP ceiling.

  • Titans' Jeffery Simmons: Undergoes elbow surgery

Simmons confirmed he underwent an elbow procedure during the offseason, Easton Freeze of AtoZSports.com reports. Despite dealing with an elbow issue during the 2025 season, Simmons was still incredibly productive, posting 67 total tackles, including 11.0 sacks, three passes defensed and three forced fumbles across 15 contests. Once fully healthy, he's expected to remain one of the NFL's most dominant interior defensive linemen.

Oladejo (lower leg) is not practicing at mandatory minicamp, Xavier Board of the Nashville Tennessean reports. Titans coach Robert Saleh confirmed Wednesday that Oladejo's absence is due to injury, per Turron Davenport of ESPN.com. • Chiefs' L'Jarius Sneed: Reunites with Kansas City

Sneed (quadriceps) is slated to sign with the Chiefs, per NFL reporter Jordan Schultz. Sneed was dealt from the Chiefs to the Titans in March 2024, but after two seasons in Tennessee, he'll now return to Kansas City. The 29-year-old struggled with injuries during his time with the Titans, appearing in just 12 of a possible 34 regular-season games. Most recently, Sneed missed Tennessee's final 10 contests in 2025 due to a quadriceps injury. However, his intention to sign with the Chiefs suggests he's moved past that issue. With Jaylen Watson and Trent McDuffie both joining the Rams this offseason, Sneed will likely step in and operate as one of Kansas City's top boundary corners during the 2026 season.

The 2024 seventh-round pick played just 79 defensive snaps over 16 gamers last year. With Arden Key with the Colts now, Williams could push for an increased role in 2026, and he should remain useful on special teams regardless.

The Lions signed Bachie on Wednesday. Detroit will be Bachie's fourth team in as many years. He's logged regular-season snaps, mostly on special teams, in each of his seven seasons since he made his pro debut with Philadelphia in 2020. The Lions lost veteran starter Alex Anzalone to the Buccaneers in free agency back in March, so there could be room for Bachie to stick on the 53-man roster in a depth role in 2026.
