Player Outlook
You can do better than the Bears for your Fantasy defense. They were not a top-15 unit last year and we don't rank them as a top-15 unit this season. Grady Jarrett, Dayo Odeyingbo, and Shemar Turner may help the defensive line, but it's not enough to make us want to start them even against J.J. McCarthy in his first NFL start. If they prove us wrong they should be available on the waiver wire to stream them later in the year.

  • Bears' Zah Frazier: Will miss entire rookie season

Bears general manager Ryan Poles said Tuesday that Frazier will remain on the reserve/non-football injury list the entire 2025 campaign for a "personal" reason, Courtney Cronin of ESPN reports. Frazier has been sidelined since spring workouts due to the same issue that will now cause him to miss his entire rookie campaign. Poles said that the 2025 fifth-round pick will participate in meetings, work in the weight room and meet with Chicago's medical staff this season, however, in order to prepare for the 2026 campaign.

  • Bears' Jaylon Johnson: Avoiding IR stint

Johnson (leg) will begin the regular season on the Bears' 53-man roster, Sean Hammond of the Chicago Tribune reports. Johnson started training camp on the Bears' NFI list due to a leg injury, which forced him to be sidelined for practices and all three of the team's preseason games. Despite the extended time off, general manager Ryan Poles relayed Tuesday that Johnson is aiming to be available for the Bears' Week 1 matchup against the Vikings on Monday, Sept. 8, per Sean Hammond of the Chicago Tribune. Nahshon Wright would be the top candidate to start at outside corner opposite Tyrique Stevenson if Johnson is unable to play in Chicago's regular-season opener.
