Live scores, highlights and updates from the Vikings vs. Panthers football game
Game Recap
The Minnesota Vikings fell to the Carolina Panthers 31-24 when the teams previously met three seasons ago; this time around, they exacted some revenge. The Vikings dodged a bullet Sunday, finishing off Carolina 28-27. Kudos to the oddsmakers for accurately forecasting both the winner and the close margin.
Minnesota relied on the efforts of QB Kirk Cousins, who passed for three TDs and 307 yards on 45 attempts, and WR Justin Jefferson, who snatched two receiving TDs. Cousins ended up with a passer rating of 154.90. On the other hand, one thorn in Minnesota's side was the less-than-spectacular play of RB Dalvin Cook, who fumbled the ball once.
Despite the defeat, Carolina got a solid performance out of WR Robby Anderson, who caught four passes for one TD and 94 yards.
The victory improved Minnesota's record to 5-6. The Panthers' overall record fell to 4-8.
The Vikings will play host again and welcome the Jacksonville Jaguars to U.S. Bank Stadium, where kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET next week. Jacksonville staggers in eager to bring about an end to their ten-game losing streak. Carolina can take some time to mend their wounds since their next contest isn't for a while. They will face the Denver Broncos at Bank of America Stadium at 1 p.m. ET in two weeks.
