Game Recap
If the Houston Texans were expecting to get some payback for the 31-13 loss against the Minnesota Vikings when they previously met in October of 2016, then they were left disappointed. The Texans came up short against Minnesota Sunday, falling 31-23.
RB Dalvin Cook was the offensive standout of the game for Minnesota, rushing for two TDs and 130 yards on 27 carries. Minnesota also got help from WR Adam Thielen, who showed off his sure hands for 114 receiving yards in the win.
Houston's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of QB Deshaun Watson, who passed for two TDs and 300 yards on 33 attempts, and WR Will Fuller, who caught six passes for one TD and 108 yards. That was the first 300+ yard effort for Watson this season.
Houston's defeat pushed them down to 0-3. The Vikings' victory brought them up to an identical 0-3.
The Texans will play host again and welcome the Jacksonville Jaguars to NRG Stadium, where kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET next week. Like Houston, Jacksonville is looking to wash their mouths of the taste of defeat after falling 30-22 to the Cincinnati Bengals. Minnesota will hit the road for the second straight week as they head to CenturyLink Field at 8:20 p.m. ET next week. Those two teams might be coming in a bit winded after having run the length of the field multiple times in their most recent games.
