Late heroics by Baker Mayfield, Lavonte David give Tampa Bay the win
Needing a touchdown of their own to keep their hopes of winning alive, Baker Mayfield led the Buccaneers down the field in a two-minute drill, then finished things off by dialing up one of his most trusted receivers. With 1:15 to play at Seattle's 11-yard line, Mayfield found Sterling Shepard open in the endzone, then rifled a pass to his old Oklahoma teammate to knot the game up at 35-all.
When the Seahawks got a chance to respond, Tampa Bay wrestled complete control of the game away by virtue of one of their longest tenured players, as Lavonte David picked off a Sam Darnold pass with less than a minute left to set Tampa Bay up yet again on Seattle's side of the field.
A little more work by the Bucs' offense was enough to set kicker Chase McLaughlin up with a 39-yard game winning field goal, which he drilled to give Tampa Bay a dramatic 38-35 victory.
