Rams vs. Buccaneers live updates: Matthew Stafford and Baker Mayfield square off on 'SNF'

Sunday's Week 12 action concludes at SoFi Stadium, where the Los Angeles Rams are hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a wildly fascinating NFC battle. Both clubs came into the week sitting in first place in their respective divisions, and a win here could loom large at the end of the year when it comes to tiebreaker scenarios for seeding if they each maintain their position.

Tampa Bay enters this prime-time affair at 6-4 and looking to snap a two-game losing skid, dropping back-to-back matchups against the Patriots and Bills. A common theme in both of those defeats was lackluster play defensively, allowing at least 400 yards of total offense in each game. That will need to change if they want to break the losing streak. Not only would a victory help turn the tide, it'd also give them some much-needed breathing room in the NFC South, with the Carolina Panthers (who play on Monday night) nipping at their heels at 6-5.

As for the Rams, the vibes are much different coming into Sunday night. L.A. has won five-straight, and their last two victories were the most notable, defeating the San Francisco 49ers on the road before beating the Seattle Seahawks. That gives them a leg up in the NFC West, but the race is still tightly contested, so they cannot afford a slip-up. Meanwhile, this game also serves as an opportunity for Matthew Stafford to bolster his MVP case. The Rams quarterback is among the betting favorites for the award entering Week 12, thanks, in part, to him throwing 22 touchdowns and zero interceptions over the last seven games.

Can Stafford stay hot and lead L.A. to its sixth-straight win? Or will Baker Mayfield and the Bucs pull off the upset in primetime? As we find out, check out our live blog of Sunday's contest. Below, you can find instant highlights of all the top plays and expert analysis of all the action.

Rams jump out to three touchdown lead

Los Angeles is up 21-0 over the Buccaneers after another touchdown drive orchestrated by Matthew Stafford. Colby Parkinson hauled in a 5-yard touchdown from Stafford to build up the lead, but the story on the score was arguably Puka Nacua. Because of his brilliance, all the attention was paid to him when stacked with Parkinson at the goal line. Multiple Bucs defenders stayed with Nacua, which left Parkinson wide open for the score.

Cobie Durant rips ball from Cade Otton, returns it for a TD

Suddenly, the Los Angeles Rams hold a 14-0 lead over the Buccaneers. This time, it was the defense putting up points thanks to Cobie Durant. The Rams corner ripped the ball away from Cade Otton as the tight end bobbled a pass from Baker Mayfield and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown. Nightmare scenario for Tampa Bay.

Davante Adams puts Rams up, 7-0

Davante Adams has been a heck of an addition for the Rams this season, and came into Week 12 leading the NFL with 10 receiving touchdowns on the season. Well, you can add one more to that total as the veteran hauled in a 1-yard touchdown to open up the scoring for Los Angeles.

Puka Nacua takes over during Rams opening TD drive

Puka Nacua came into Week 12 second in the NFL, averaging 94.4 receiving yards per game. During Los Angeles' opening drive of the night on offense, he showed why he's arguably the best receiver in the league. He initially helped the Rams get into Bucs territory with a 31-yard catch and run, and then came up clutch with an 18-yard pickup on third down to help set up the opening touchdown.

Buccaneers win toss, decide to take the football

Tampa Bay won the toss and took the football. That's a rarity nowadays, but it seems like the Bucs want to start off hot offensively and possibly play with a lead. Can't say I blame them with how hot Matthew Stafford has been playing.
