Panthers vs. Falcons updates: Live NFL game scores, results for Sunday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Panthers vs. Falcons football game
3rd Quarter Report
The Falcons and the Panthers have shown up to the contest, but their offenses sure haven't. Sitting on a score of 7-3, the Falcons have looked like the better team, but there's still one more quarter to play.
If the Falcons keep playing like this, they'll bump their record up to 7-7 in no time. On the other hand, the Panthers will have to make due with a 1-13 record unless they turn things around (and fast).
Preview
The Panthers will be in front of their home fans on Sunday, but a look at the spread shows they might need that home-field advantage. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Atlanta Falcons at 1:00 p.m. ET at Bank of America Stadium. The Panthers are limping into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
Carolina gave up the first points and the most points on Sunday. They suffered a painful 28-6 loss at the hands of the Saints. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Carolina has scored all season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, the Panthers weren't very productive in the air and finished the game with only 137 passing yards. They are winless (0-4) when they've passed for less than 164 yards.
Meanwhile, the point spread may have favored Atlanta last Sunday, but the final result did not. They took a 29-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buccaneers. Atlanta gained 144 more yards on the day, but it was Tampa Bay that made the best of use of them.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Desmond Ridder, who threw for 347 yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Those 347 passing yards set a new season-high mark for he. Drake London was another key contributor, picking up 172 receiving yards.
Carolina bumped their record down to 1-12 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Atlanta, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
