Panthers vs. Buccaneers: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Sunday's NFL game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Panthers vs. Buccaneers football game
3rd Quarter Report
The Buccaneers and the Panthers have shown up to the game, but their offenses sure haven't. The Buccaneers have jumped out to a 6-0 lead against the Panthers.
If the Buccaneers keep playing like this, they'll bump their record up to 9-8 in no time. On the other hand, the Panthers will have to make due with a 2-15 record unless they turn things around (and fast).
Preview
The Buccaneers have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Carolina Panthers at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday at Bank of America Stadium. The Buccaneers might want some stickum for this matchup since the team gave up four turnovers on Sunday.
The point spread may have favored Tampa Bay last Sunday, but the final result did not. They took a 23-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saints. Tampa Bay was down 20-0 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite their loss, the Buccaneers saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Baker Mayfield, who threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all.
Even though they lost, the Buccaneers found their momentum and kept it and finished the game with seven yards per play. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as the Saints only advanced 4.4 yards per play.
Meanwhile, last Sunday just wasn't the day for Carolina's offense. They suffered a bruising 26-0 loss at the hands of the Jaguars. That was the first shutout Carolina has experienced all season.
Tampa Bay's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8. As for Carolina, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.
Going forward, the Buccaneers are the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 5.5 points. This will be their first time playing as the favorites on the road this season.
