Packers vs. Chargers updates: Live NFL game scores, results for Sunday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Packers vs. Chargers football game
3rd Quarter Report
After a tough defeat on the road their last time out, the Packers look much better today on their home field. A victory is still up for grabs for either team after three quarters, but the Packers are up 16-13 over the Chargers.
With three games having already gone down to the wire, it's been a real nail-biter of a season for the Packers, and they're locked in yet another close battle with the Chargers. Maybe the Packers will pull away, but we predict a narrow margin.
Preview
The Packers will be in front of their home fans on Sunday, but a look at the spread shows they might need that home-field advantage. They will take on the Los Angeles Chargers at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Sunday, the Packers were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 23-19 to the Steelers. Despite 75 more yards than Pittsburgh, Green Bay couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Jordan Love put forth a good effort for the losing side as he threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles pushed their score all the way to 38 on Sunday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 41-38. Even though they lost, Los Angeles' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 26.6 points per game (they're now ranked seventh in scoring overall).
Despite the loss, the Chargers had strong showings from Justin Herbert, who threw for 323 yards and four touchdowns, and Keenan Allen, who picked up 175 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Ekeler, who gained 115 total yards and a touchdown.
Green Bay has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Los Angeles, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
In addition to losing their last games, the two teams failed to cover the spread. Looking forward, the Chargers are the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by three points. They might be worth a quick bet since they're sitting on a four game streak of covering the spread when expected to win.
