Lions vs. Cardinals updates: Live NFL game scores, results for Sunday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Lions vs. Cardinals football game
The Arizona Cardinals are 0-3-1 against the Detroit Lions since September of 2017, but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Sunday. Arizona will head out on the road to face off against Detroit at 1 p.m. ET at Ford Field. The Cardinals are expected to win again but are hoping to meet expectations this time.
It was all tied up 13-13 at halftime, but Arizona was not quite the Los Angeles Rams' equal in the second half when they met this past Monday. Arizona fell to Los Angeles 30-23. Arizona's defeat came about despite a quality game from RB James Conner, who punched in two rushing touchdowns in addition to catching nine passes for 94 yards.
Special teams collected 11 points for Arizona. K Matt Prater delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.
Meanwhile, the oddsmakers predicted a rough game for the Lions last week, and boy were they were right. They found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 38-10 punch to the gut against the Denver Broncos. Detroit was down 31-10 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. No one had a standout game offensively for Detroit, but QB Jared Goff led the way with one touchdown.
This next contest looks promising for Arizona, who are favored by a full 12.5 points. Those burned by picking them against the spread this past Monday might want to keep in mind that the team has not yet dropped back-to-back games against the spread this season.
Arizona is now 10-3 while the Lions sit at 1-11-1. Two offensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: The Cardinals rank first in the league when it comes to rushing touchdowns, with 21 on the season. Less enviably, Detroit is stumbling into the matchup with the fourth fewest overall offensive touchdowns in the NFL, having accrued only 23 on the season. So the cards are definitely stacked against Detroit.
