Lions vs. 49ers Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Sunday's NFL game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Lions vs. 49ers football game
The San Francisco 49ers and the Detroit Lions will face off at 1 p.m. ET Sept. 12 at Ford Field to kick off their 2021 seasons. San Francisco struggled last year, ending up 6-10. Likewise, last year was nothing to brag about for Detroit (5-11), either, so the team is looking forward to a new start.
A couple defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: The 49ers were fourth best in rushing touchdowns allowed, finishing the 2020 season giving up only 12. Less enviably, Detroit ranked worst with respect to touchdowns allowed last season, where the squad gave up 65. The good news for Detroit, of course, is that these forces working against them might not carry over into the new season.
San Francisco has the odds in their favor, so they'll need to guard against complacency. A victory is hardly a sure thing, especially this early in the season, so expect a good game.
