Falcons vs. Saints updates: Live NFL game scores, results for Sunday
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Falcons vs. Saints football game
3rd Quarter Report
Fortunes may be turning around for the Falcons after losing three in a row. A win is still up for grabs for either team after three quarters, but the Falcons are up 14-12 over the Saints. The finale is shaping up to be a lot like these teams' last head-to-head, which was decided by just three points.
With five games having already gone down to the wire, it's been a real nail-biter of a season for the Falcons, and they're locked in yet another close battle with the Saints. Maybe the Falcons will pull away, but we predict a narrow margin.
Preview
The Saints are 8-2 against the Falcons since September of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Sunday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and face off against one another at 1:00 p.m. ET on November 26th at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Coming off a loss in a game the Saints were expected to win, they now face the more daunting task of proving themselves against unfavorable odds.
Last Sunday, the Saints couldn't handle the Vikings and fell 27-19.
Chris Olave put forth a good effort for the losing side as he picked up 94 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Atlanta went for two against Arizona last Sunday, and the resulting failed attempt cost them the match. The Falcons fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 25-23. Atlanta just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
The losing side was boosted by Bijan Robinson, who rushed for 95 yards and a touchdown.
The Falcons have used their receiving core heavily this season, as 48.6% of their passes have been to wide receivers this season. The team tried something a little different last Sunday though, as only 37.5% of the QB's passes went to receivers. Given they posted a dismal 3.9 yards per play the Falcons probably won't be trying that again any time soon.
The Falcons weren't very productive in the air and finished the game with only 94 passing yards. They were smoked by their opponents in that department as the Cardinals passed for 249.
New Orleans' defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Atlanta, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
In addition to losing their last games, both teams failed to cover the spread. As for their next game, the Falcons are the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by a single point. Bettors picking them against the spread have some confidence (to put it mildly), as the team is sitting on a six-game streak of failing to cover when expected to win.
New Orleans skirted past Atlanta 21-18 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Falcons' Tyler Allgeier, who rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Saints still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
