Falcons vs. Panthers updates: Live NFL game scores, results for Sunday

The Carolina Panthers are 2-8 against the Atlanta Falcons since October of 2016, but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Sunday. Carolina and Atlanta will face off in an NFC South battle at 1 p.m. ET at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The teams split their matchups last year, with the Panthers winning the first 23-16 on the road and Atlanta taking the second 25-17.

Things couldn't have gone much worse for Carolina as they lost 25-3 to the New York Giants last week. This game was a close 5-3 at the break, but unfortunately for Carolina it sure didn't stay that way. One thing holding Carolina back was the mediocre play of RB Chuba Hubbard, who did not have his best game: he rushed for 28 yards on 12 carries.

Meanwhile, it was a close one, but last week the Falcons sidestepped the Miami Dolphins for a 30-28 win. Atlanta's TE Kyle Pitts filled up the stat sheet, catching seven passes for 163 yards.

Special teams collected 12 points for Atlanta. K Younghoe Koo delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.

Carolina is expected to lose this next one by 3. Now might not be the best time to take Carolina against the spread since they've let down bettors for the past four consecutive games.

The Panthers are now 3-4 while the Falcons sit at 3-3. Atlanta is 1-1 after wins this season, and Carolina is 0-3 after losses.
