Chargers vs. Jaguars: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Sunday's NFL game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Chargers vs. Jaguars football game
Game Recap
The Los Angeles Chargers won the last time they met up with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and they shouldn't regret having come to the reunion, either. Los Angeles was able to grind out a solid win over Jacksonville on Sunday, winning 39-29. That was the first win for the Chargers since their victory over the Cincinnati Bengals six weeks ago.
QB Justin Herbert had a stellar game for Los Angeles as he passed for three TDs and 347 yards on 43 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 66 yards. Near the top of the highlight reel was Herbert's 70-yard TD bomb to WR Jalen Guyton in the third quarter. Los Angeles also got help from WR Keenan Allen, who showed off his sure hands for 125 receiving yards in the victory.
Los Angeles' defense was a presence as well, as it got past the Jaguars' offensive line to sack QB Gardner Minshew five times for a loss of 19 yards. It was a group effort with three picking up 1.5 sacks apiece.
A silver lining for Jacksonville was the play of RB James Robinson, who rushed for one TD and 119 yards on 22 carries in addition to snatching one receiving TD.
The victory improved the Chargers' record to 2-4. Jacksonville is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Los Angeles will square off against the Denver Broncos at 4:05 p.m. ET next Sunday at Empower Field at Mile High. The defensive coordinators will surely put in extra hours ahead of this matchup since these teams' offenses combined for 895 yards this week. The Jaguars will have some time to rest before their next game, which is against the Houston Texans at 1 p.m. ET in two weeks at TIAA Bank Field. Jacksonville will have the chance to boost their scoring average against a Houston defense that has allowed 31 points per game on average.
