The Atlanta Falcons lost a heartbreaker to the Los Angeles Chargers when they met in October of 2016, and they left with a heavy heart again on Sunday. It was close but no cigar for Atlanta as they fell 20-17 to Los Angeles.
The Chargers' RB Austin Ekeler filled up the stat sheet, picked up 79 yards on the ground on 15 carries and caught nine passes for 67 yards. QB Justin Herbert didn't exactly stuff the stat sheet, but finished with two touchdowns.
The losing side was boosted by WR Calvin Ridley, who caught eight passes for one TD and 124 yards.
Atlanta's loss pushed them down to 4-9. Los Angeles' victory brought them up to an identical 4-9.
Atlanta will look to defend their home turf next Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 1 p.m. ET. Tampa Bay is 4-3 after wins this year, and the Falcons are 3-5 after losses. As for the Chargers, they will face off against the Las Vegas Raiders at 8:20 p.m. ET on Thursday at Allegiant Stadium. Los Angeles will have the chance to boost their scoring average against a Las Vegas defense that has allowed 30 points per game on average.
