Live scores, highlights and updates from the Cardinals vs. 49ers football game
1st Quarter Report
The 49ers are on the road but looking no worse for wear. They have jumped out to a quick 14-7 lead against the Cardinals.
The 49ers entered the matchup having won five straight and they're just three quarters away from another. Will they make it six, or will the Cardinals step up and spoil it? We'll know soon.
Preview
The 49ers will be playing the full four quarters on Sunday, but they're expected to have things wrapped up well before that. They will head out on the road to face off against the Arizona Cardinals at 4:05 p.m. ET at State Farm Stadium. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
San Francisco had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Sunday. They came out on top against the Seahawks by a score of 28-16. The over/under was set at 44.5 points, so nice work oddsmakers; you were right on the money.
The 49ers' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brock Purdy, who threw for 368 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.6 yards per attempt. Those 368 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Purdy. Deebo Samuel also helped out as he racked up 149 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Arizona gave up the first points last Sunday, but they didn't let that get them down. They strolled past the Steelers with points to spare, taking the game 24-10. The victory was just what Arizona needed coming off of a 37-14 loss in their prior game.
Trey McBride and James Conner were among the main playmakers for the Cardinals as the former picked up 89 receiving yards and a touchdown and the latter rushed for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Conner also notched 25 carries for the first time this season.
San Francisco's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Arizona, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-10.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Sunday's contest: The 49ers have been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 402.3 total yards per game (they're ranked second in total yards per game overall). It's a different story for the Cardinals, though, as they've been averaging only 296.3 total yards per game. Will the 49ers be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Cardinals flip the script? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
