In a matchup of two first-place teams, the first half of Sunday's game didn't disappoint as the Steelers are up 21-17 over the Bears at intermission.
With Aaron Rodgers out, the Steelers received a solid performance in the first half from Mason Rudolph, who ended the half with 10 straight completions after starting the game with a pick. He went 6 of 6 passing on Pittsburgh's first scoring drive that was capped off by DK Metcalf's short touchdown run.
Pittsburgh took its first lead moments later when T.J. Watt's strip sack of Caleb Williams was recovered in the Bears' end zone by teammate Nick Herbig. Williams responded by throwing his second touchdown pass of the half after his defense studded the Steelers' offense on fourth down.
Undeterred, the Steelers went for it again on fourth down on their next drive. This time, they got a 55-yard run by Kenneth Gainwell that set up Jaylen Warren's go-ahead touchdown run. The Bears ended the half with a quick scoring drive that culminated in Cairo Santos' 47-yard field goal.
While Rudolph completed all by 11 of his attempts, Williams completed just 10 of his 21 first half attempts. Rudolph was aided by a Steelers running game that churned out 125 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries.
