McNeeley made just his second appearance of the regular season Tuesday, as he's currently a fringe rotation player for Charlotte. He is capable of playing multiple rotation spots, and coach Charles Lee is reportedly a big fan, so the rookie's role could grow as the season progresses.
McNeeley will come off the bench in Wednesday's season opener against the Nets.
McNeeley received a spot start in Friday's preseason finale with some key guys resting, but he'll begin the season in a reserve role. He's not expected to be a significant part of the rotation.

McNeeley generated 22 points (7-16 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 5-5 FT), 12 rebounds and six assists over 28 minutes of Friday's 111-105 win over the Jazz in Summer League.
McNeeley was revered for his three-point shooting during the pre-draft process, but he flashed his all-around game Friday and led the Hornets in points, rebounds and assists during the win. McNeeley will have to compete with players like Josh Green and Josh Okogie for bench minutes on the wing, but if Friday's performance is any indication, Charlotte will have a tough time keeping McNeeley off the floor.
McNeeley was selected by the Hornets with the No. 29 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
The selection was made by the Suns, but McNeeley will join the Hornets after Charlotte acquired this pick in the trade that sent Mark Williams to Phoenix on draft night. McNeeley made 27 appearances for UConn in his freshman year and averaged 14.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as a one-and-done prospect. His outside shooting, shot-creation ability and facilitating role in the pick-and-roll make him a player with valuable traits, and he'll probably compete for minutes off the bench right away. However, even though he's an above-average shooter, he's not likely to make a big impact in fantasy right away as a rookie.
