Alexander-Walker recorded 26 points (8-17 FG, 4-11 3Pt, 6-6 FT), three rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block in 35 minutes during Canada's 97-92 win over Argentina in Monday's FIBA World Cup qualifier.
The 27-year-old is coming off a breakout 2025-26 campaign in which he earned Most Improved Player honors after averaging career highs of 20.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 45.9 percent from the field and 39.9 percent from three-point range during the regular season. Atlanta added more perimeter depth this offseason, including Luguentz Dort, which could make it difficult for Alexander-Walker to duplicate last season's offensive volume.

Alexander-Walker could face increased competition for minutes after Atlanta added Luguentz Dort, Rylan Stiles of SI.com reports.
Additionally, the Hawks added rookie Kingston Flemings while previously acquiring Aaron Wiggins. Alexander-Walker's defensive versatility and three-point shooting should still earn him a big role in the rotation, but the Hawks suddenly have much greater depth on the wing, making it more difficult for him to secure consistent touches. As a result, Alexander-Walker's upside may not be as appealing as it was in 2025-26.

Hawks' Nickeil Alexander-Walker: Held to 11 points in loss
Alexander-Walker supplied 11 points (3-8 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-6 FT), one rebound, two assists and one steal in 29 minutes during Thursday's 140-89 loss to New York in Game 6 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
The Hawks were completely steamrolled Thursday as their season came to an end. Alexander-Walker's first campaign in Atlanta was a major success, however, as he won the Most Improved Player award after compiling regular-season averages of 20.8 points, 3.7 assists, 3.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 3.2 three-pointers in 33.4 minutes per contest.

Hawks' Nickeil Alexander-Walker: Another serviceable effort
Alexander-Walker closed Tuesday's 126-97 loss to the Knicks in Game 5 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs with 16 points (6-11 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 0-1 FT), three assists and one steal over 34 minutes.
Alexander-Walker, while not at his best, continues to produce serviceable numbers, having scored at least 14 points in four of his five playoff appearances. However, given the fact that he has been a major cog for the Hawks this season, fans are certainly looking for him to do more on both ends of the floor. During that five-game period, Alexander-Walker has averaged 14.2 points, 2.8 assists, 0.4 steals and 3.4 three-pointers.

Hawks' Nickeil Alexander-Walker: Struggles offensively Monday
Alexander-Walker provided nine points (3-12 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds, six assists and three blocks in 38 minutes during Monday's 107-106 victory over the Knicks in Game 2 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Alexander-Walker struggled from the field for the second straight game, although he matched his season-high with three blocks. Despite a pair of underwhelming performances, Atlanta is positioned well, with the series tied 1-1 heading back to Atlanta. Given the season he has had, expect to see Alexander-Walker back on the front foot for Game 3 on Thursday.
