Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Sees 16 minutes of action
Davis compiled seven points (3-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt), seven rebounds, two blocked shots and an assist in 16 minutes during Monday's 106-89 preseason win over Oklahoma State.
The Mavericks have a wide array of options at center, so Davis should find himself fully entrenched at the four spot for most of the season. The veteran didn't have many opportunities to show his worth after joining the team last season, but he appears to be past the groin injury that kept him sidelined. He also underwent eye surgery and will be wearing protective eyewear for the foreseeable future.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Will wear protective eyewear
Davis (eye) will wear protective eyewear for the rest of his playing career, Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Davis was given a mandate by his doctor following a procedure in July to repair a detached retina in his right eye. Although he's going along with the mandate, he's not thrilled with it. "It's for the rest of [my] career, which I'm not too excited about." After a challenging 2024-25 campaign, which was marred by injuries and a mid-season trade to the Mavericks involving Luka Doncic, Davis gets an opportunity to start fresh with a new look, while being the undisputed leader on a talented Dallas squad.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Cleared for training camp
Davis (eye) has been cleared for training camp, Joey Mistretta of ClutchPoints reports.
Head coach Jason Kidd told reporters Monday that everyone except Kyrie Irving (knee) has been cleared for training camp, which confirms that Davis is on track following his July 8 eye surgery. The big man logged 51 regular-season appearances last season between the Lakers and Mavericks, averaging 24.7 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.2 blocks and 1.2 steals. A true two-way force, Davis' health will be one of the biggest factors in Dallas' push for success this season.

Mavericks' Anthony Davis: Returns to 5-on-5 work
Davis (eye) got back on the basketball floor for the first time since July for five-on-five work Saturday, NBA reporter Marc Stein reports.
Davis underwent eye surgery to repair a detached retina on July 8. He was expected to return in time for training camp, and it appears he's on track to do just that following this latest report. After being traded to the Mavericks in the shocking Luka Doncic deal with the Lakers, Davis' time with Dallas for the rest of the 2024-25 campaign was marred by injuries, as he went down with an abductor injury in his first game with his new squad and then dealt with a knee injury late in the regular season. The one-time NBA champion will hope for a fresh start next month, with training camp set to get underway Sept. 30.
