Craig Breslow: Joins Cubs' front office
Breslow joined the Cubs as the team's Director of Strategic Initiatives for Baseball Operations on Monday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.
Reports earlier in the offseason suggested that Breslow was prepared to end his career for a front-office job, and the Yale product has done just that. The veteran southpaw pitched in parts of 12 major-league seasons for seven different teams, posting a 3.45 ERA in 570.2 innings.

Craig Breslow: Planning to end playing career
Breslow has been engaged in talks with a number of organizations this offseason in joining them in a non-playing role, signaling the end of his pitching career, Evan Drellich of NBC Sports Boston reports.
Breslow was unable to earn a promotion to the big leagues in 2018 after registering accruing a 5.40 ERA and 2.05 WHIP across 33 appearances at three affiliates in the Toronto organization. Now 38 years old, Breslow appears ready to transition to the next phase of his career, concluding a 12-year run in the majors that included stops with the Padres, Red Sox, Indians, Twins, Athletics, Diamondbacks and Marlins.

Craig Breslow: Will re-sign with Toronto
Breslow, who was released by the Blue Jays on Saturday, will re-sign with the team on a minor-league pact, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Breslow's release earlier in the day was merely a procedural move. It's unclear what the 37-year-old left-hander still has in the tank. His last good season came in 2013, when he was a key bullpen piece that helped carry the Red Sox to the World Series.
