  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Season-high four RBI in loss

Teel went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and four RBI in Tuesday's 11-10 loss to Atlanta. One game after matching a season high with four hits, Teel established season best with four RBI on Tuesday. The 2023 first-rounder is making a nice impression as he gets his first taste of major-league action, slashing .274/.363/.411 with four homers, eight doubles, 18 RBI and two stolen bases through 169 plate appearances. His upside will remain limited by a lackluster White Sox lineup, but Teel is worth considering in two-catcher leagues.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Pops third homer

Teel went 4-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored Monday against Atlanta. Teel entered Monday's game hitless in his last three starts, but he turned things around with a trio of singles as well as a solo home run. He now has three homers and seven doubles across 164 plate appearances since being promoted to the majors in early June, good for a .113 ISO. While it would be nice to see some additional power production, he has maintained a .270 batting average and a respectable 24.4 percent strikeout rate.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Reaches base three times

Teel went 2-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored Tuesday against the Tigers. Teel was part of a five-run fifth inning for the White Sox, walking with the bases loaded to drive in one. After holding his own through the first month of his time in the majors, Teel has shown signs of breaking out since the All-Star break. Across 17 games, he's hit .310 with two home runs, seven RBI and nine runs scored with five total extra-base hits.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Out of Thursday's lineup

Teel is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game in Seattle. Teel will get a breather after starting each of the last four games (three at catcher, one at designated hitter). Edgar Quero will handle the catching and will bat seventh for the White Sox in Thursday's matinee.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Smacks second homer

Teel went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 9-3 win over the Phillies. Starting at DH on Wednesday, Teel opened the scoring with a leadoff blast off Taijuan Walker in the second inning, his second homer this year. The 23-year-old Teel has been swinging the bat well, going 10-for-25 with a 1.080 OPS over his last seven games. Overall, he's slashing .277/.378/.394 with nine RBI, 17 runs scored and a steal across his first 112 big-league plate appearances.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Idle in series opener

Teel is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies. After he was rested for Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Cubs in day game after a night game, the left-handed-hitting Teel will remain on the bench Monday since the Phillies are sending a southpaw (Cristopher Sanchez) to the hill. Edgar Quero will handle catching duties for the White Sox in the series opener.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Resting Sunday

Teel is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs. Teel will get a breather after he caught all nine innings of Saturday night's 6-1 loss. Edgar Quero will spell Teel behind the plate in the series finale.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Records first career homer

Teel went 4-for-5 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and three total runs scored Wednesday in an 11-9 win over Tampa Bay. The highlight of Teel's day was a solo homer in the sixth inning for his first career MLB long ball, but he was plenty productive beyond that. The rookie catcher added a run-scoring single in the eighth frame and notched his first career four-hit performance. Teel has opened the second half of the season on a tear, going 7-for-14 with six runs and two RBI in his first three games.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Knocks in two

Teel went 1-for-4 with two RBI on Saturday against the Guardians. Teel entered Saturday's game having gone hitless across his last 17 at-bats, though he had struck out at a moderate 24 percent clip in that span. He broke out of the slump with a two-RBI single in the fourth inning of Saturday's game, bringing his RBI total to six across his first 24 MLB contests. Teel has started to sit against lefties, but he otherwise continues to get regular playing time behind the dish.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Getting rest Sunday

Teel is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies. Teel will rest for Sunday's day game after he went 0-for-4 with a walk and a run while catching all nine innings of Saturday's 10-3 win. Edgar Quero will spell Teel behind the plate.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Sitting Wednesday

Teel is not in the White Sox's starting lineup against the Dodgers on Wednesday. With veteran southpaw Clayton Kershaw taking the mound, the lefty-hitting Teel will be on the bench for the start of Wednesday's game. Edgar Quero will work behind home plate and bat fifth.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: First career extra-base hit

Teel went 1-for-4 with a double Friday against the Blue Jays. After Teel collected hits in both of his first two big-league games, he slowed at the plate and has hit just .174 with a 37.9 percent strikeout rate in his last nine games. He's started only two of the White Sox's last four contests after playing nearly every day, though Chicago will almost certainly still look to get him in the lineup regularly. Teel has also started to turn things around slowly, tallying at least one hit in each of his last four starts while logging his first career extra-base hit Friday.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: On base three times in debut

Teel went 1-for-2 with a run scored and two walks Friday against the Royals. Teel made his big-league debut Friday night, hitting sixth while starting behind the plate. He worked a walk in his first plate appearance and laced a single to left field in the fourth inning for his first big-league hit. Teel should be a regular in the White Sox's lineup, though it remains unclear whether he will mix in at first base or designated hitter in addition to his work at catcher.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Batting sixth in MLB debut

Teel is starting behind the plate and batting sixth Friday against the Royals. The 23-year-old will immediately enter the starting lineup after being added to the big-league roster Friday, and he'll do the catching for right-hander Davis Martin. Teel had an .886 OPS with eight homers and seven steals in 50 games with Triple-A Charlotte prior to being promoted, and he could take the No. 1 catching job from Edgar Quero with a strong start to his MLB career.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Promotion official

The White Sox selected Teel's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday. The 23-year-old is poised to make his MLB debut after posting a .295/.394/.492 slash line with eight homers and seven steals in 50 games for Charlotte to begin the season. Teel, who was acquired from the Red Sox as part of the Garrett Crochet trade in December, should split playing time behind the plate with Edgar Quero following Korey Lee's demotion to Triple-A on Friday. Teel has also been taking reps at first base but has yet to see game action there at the professional level, so he may need some time to get more comfortable at the position. The White Sox could also DH either of the young backstops to get them more playing time.

  • White Sox's Kyle Teel: Headed to minors

The White Sox reassigned Teel to minor-league camp Monday. Though Teel and Edgar Quero are two of the more highly regarded catching prospects not just in the White Sox organization but in all of baseball, the duo will likely split time behind the plate and at designated hitter at Triple-A Charlotte to begin the season before making their respective MLB debuts later on in 2025. The White Sox appear set to proceed with Korey Lee as their No. 1 catcher, but after he posted a .591 OPS over 394 plate appearances in 2024, he likely won't be tough to dislodge atop the depth chart once the organization is confident Teel and/or Quero are big-league ready. As a member of the Red Sox organization last season, Teel slashed .288/.386/.433 with 13 home runs and 12 steals over 112 games at the Double-A and Triple-A levels.

  • Red Sox's Kyle Teel: Summoned to Triple-A

The Red Sox promoted Teel from Double-A Portland to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports. Teel had produced a .294 average with 11 home runs, 59 RBI, 64 runs scored and nine stolen bases over 320 at-bats in 83 games with Portland. He will look to keep it up at the Triple-A level, where he'll also be joined by shortstop Marcelo Mayer and outfielder Roman Anthony.
